Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create a colorful rainbow and a pot of gold using their imagination and physical activity. They will learn about colors, shapes, and the importance of movement while having fun!
Materials and Prep
- Open space for movement (inside or outside)
- Crayons or markers (optional for drawing)
- Paper (optional for drawing)
- Imagination!
Before starting the lesson, ensure the area is safe for movement and that the student has access to the materials if they choose to use them.
Activities
-
Rainbow Run:
Have the student pretend to be a rainbow by running in a zigzag pattern. Encourage them to use their arms to create colorful arcs in the air as they run. This will help them understand the shape of a rainbow while getting some exercise!
-
Color Hunt:
Ask the student to find objects around the house or yard that match the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. They can collect these items in a basket or just point them out. This will help them recognize colors in their environment.
-
Pot of Gold Dance:
Play some fun music and have the student dance like they are celebrating finding a pot of gold. They can jump, twirl, and move in any way they like. This will encourage creativity and physical movement!
-
Rainbow Art:
If the student wants to draw, provide them with crayons or markers and paper. They can create their own rainbow and a pot of gold at the end. This will allow them to express their creativity and practice fine motor skills.
Talking Points
- "What colors can you see in a rainbow? Let's say them together!"

- "What do you think is at the end of a rainbow? Let's pretend we found a pot of gold!"
