  • Ingredients from different cultures (vegetables, spices, grains, etc.)
  • Notebook and pen for notes and reflections
  • Access to a stove or cooking area
  • Basic recipes from various cultures (to be discussed during the lesson)

Before the lesson, ensure that Nadia is aware of basic kitchen safety and hygiene practices. Discuss which cultures she might be interested in exploring through cooking.

Activities

  • Culture Exploration:

Nadia will choose three different cultures to explore. She will research traditional dishes from each culture, focusing on the ingredients and cooking methods used. This will help her appreciate the diversity in culinary practices.

  • Recipe Creation:

Using the researched dishes, Nadia will select one recipe from each culture and create a fusion dish that combines elements from all three. This activity encourages creativity and showcases how different cultures can come together in the kitchen.

  • Cooking Session:

Nadia will cook her fusion dish, applying what she learned about each culture's cooking techniques and flavors. This hands-on experience will reinforce her understanding of diversity in the kitchen.

  • Reflection and Discussion:

After cooking, Nadia will write a short reflection on what she learned about equality and diversity through this lesson. She will discuss how the different cultures influenced her dish and what it means to celebrate diversity in food.
