¡Fiesta de Frutas! A Spanish Fruit Adventure

Lesson Activities:

Part 1: ¡Hola! y Calentamiento (Hello! and Warm-up) (5-10 minutes)

¡Hola! ¿Cómo estás? Today, we're going on a fun adventure with... ¡frutas! (fruits!). What are some of your favorite fruits? We're going to learn their names in Spanish and then do something super creative!

Part 2: Vocabulary Fiesta (Fruit Vocabulary Party) (10-15 minutes)

Let's learn the Spanish names for some yummy fruits! I'll say the name, and you repeat it. We can use pictures of fruits or even real fruits if we have them!

  • Manzana (Apple) - Sounds like 'mahn-zah-nah'
  • Plátano (Banana) - Sounds like 'plah-tah-noh'
  • Naranja (Orange) - Sounds like 'nah-rahn-hah'
  • Uvas (Grapes) - Sounds like 'oo-bahs'
  • Fresa (Strawberry) - Sounds like 'freh-sah'
  • Optional: Piña (Pineapple - 'pee-nyah'), Sandía (Watermelon - 'sahn-dee-ah')

Let's practice saying them a few times. We can even make it a game: "Veo, veo..." (I spy...). I'll describe a fruit in English (e.g., "I spy a long yellow fruit") and you guess it in Spanish!

Part 3: Mi Ensalada de Frutas Creativa (My Creative Fruit Salad Story) (20-25 minutes)

Now for the super fun part! You're going to create your own short story. It could be about fruits that come alive, a magical fruit salad, or an adventure where fruits are the heroes! The only rule is to use at least three of the Spanish fruit names we learned.

You can draw pictures to go with your story. Think about: What are your fruit characters like? What do they do? Where do they go?

Here are some ideas to start, or you can make up your own:

  • "Once upon a time, a brave manzana decided to..."
  • "The speedy plátano and the sweet fresa went on an adventure to find the lost..."
  • "In a land made of fruit, the naranja king ruled over the uvas people..."

Take your time to draw and think about your story. I'm excited to see what you create!

Part 4: ¡Comparte Tu Cuento! (Share Your Story!) (5-10 minutes)

¡Es hora de compartir! (It's time to share!). Show me your drawings and tell me your story. Remember to use the Spanish fruit names when you talk about your fruit characters!

As you tell your story, I might ask some simple questions like: "¿Qué fruta es esta?" (What fruit is this?) or "¿De qué color es la manzana?" (What color is the apple?).

Part 5: Despedida y Repaso Rápido (Farewell and Quick Review) (5 minutes)

¡Excelente trabajo hoy! That was a fantastic story! Let's quickly say our fruit names one more time: manzana, plátano, naranja, uvas, fresa.

You did a wonderful job learning and being creative with Spanish today. ¡Muy bien! (Very good!).

¡Adiós! ¡Hasta la próxima! (Goodbye! Until next time!)
