Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore colors and create your own artwork inspired by "The White Rabbit Color Book".
Materials and Prep
- "The White Rabbit Color Book" by Alan Baker
- Blank white paper or drawing pad
- Crayons or colored pencils
Make sure you have read "The White Rabbit Color Book" beforehand so you can discuss it with your student.
Activities
- Read "The White Rabbit Color Book" together with your student. Encourage them to pay attention to the different colors mentioned in the book.
- After reading, ask your student to choose their favorite color from the book. Give them a blank sheet of paper and ask them to draw a picture using only that color. For example, if they choose blue, they can draw a blue sky, blue flowers, or anything else they can imagine.
- Once they have finished their monochromatic drawing, ask them to choose a different color and create another drawing using only that color. Repeat this step with a few more colors, allowing them to explore different shades and combinations.
- After completing their colorful artworks, have a discussion with your student about the different colors they used and why they chose them. Ask them how the colors make them feel and if they have any favorite color combinations.
- Display their artwork in a special place, such as a bulletin board or a designated art wall, to celebrate their creativity and hard work.

- "Now, using your favorite color, let's draw a picture. What would you like to draw? Remember to use only your favorite color for this drawing."
- "Great job! Now, let's choose another color and create another drawing. How does this new color make you feel? Does it remind you of anything?"
- "Can you tell me about the different colors you used in your drawings? Do you have any favorite color combinations?"
