Objective

Materials and Prep

Activities

  1. Choose a video game that you enjoy playing and that involves some physics elements (e.g., a racing game, a platformer, or a shooting game).
  2. Play the game for at least 30 minutes, paying attention to the physics-related aspects of the gameplay. Take notes on any interesting physics phenomena you observe.

  3. Identify and analyze the physics concepts present in the game.
  4. Consider the following questions and write down your observations:

    • What types of forces are acting on objects in the game? (e.g., gravity, friction, air resistance)
    • How do objects move and interact with each other? (e.g., collisions, projectiles, acceleration)
    • Are there any energy transformations or conservation principles at play? (e.g., potential energy, kinetic energy)

  5. Apply your physics knowledge to improve your gameplay.
  6. Based on your analysis, think about how you can use your understanding of physics to enhance your performance in the game. Experiment with different strategies and techniques that align with the physics principles you identified.
