Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to solve arithmetic problems using number jigsaw puzzles.
Materials and Prep
- Number jigsaw puzzles (1-10)
- Pencil
- Blank paper
Activities
-
Start by explaining the concept of number jigsaw puzzles to the student. Show them an example puzzle and explain that they need to arrange the pieces in a way that the numbers are in the correct order.
For example, if the puzzle has pieces with numbers 4, 2, 1, and 3, the correct arrangement would be 1, 2, 3, 4.
-
Give the student a number jigsaw puzzle and ask them to solve it. Encourage them to think about the correct order of numbers and try different arrangements until they find the right one.
-
Once they have solved the puzzle, ask the student to write down the numbers in the correct order on a blank piece of paper.
-
Repeat steps 2 and 3 with different number jigsaw puzzles, gradually increasing the difficulty level.
-
As a challenge, ask the student to create their own number jigsaw puzzle by mixing up the order of numbers on a blank piece of paper. Then, they can give the puzzle to you or another family member to solve.
