Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to read and comprehend a short passage related to Roblox, and answer questions based on the passage.

Materials and Prep

  • A computer or tablet with internet access
  • A notebook or paper and pencil

Before starting the lesson, make sure the student is familiar with basic reading skills such as phonics, sight words, and basic comprehension strategies.

Activities

  1. Introduction to Roblox
  2. Begin by asking the student about their interest in Roblox. Have them briefly describe what Roblox is and why they enjoy playing it. Encourage them to use descriptive words and phrases.

  3. Reading a Roblox Passage
  4. Provide the student with a short passage about Roblox. It could be a description of a popular game or a brief overview of the platform. Have them read the passage aloud, and then read it silently to themselves. Encourage them to use their finger to follow along with the words as they read.

  5. Comprehension Questions
  6. Ask the student a series of comprehension questions based on the passage they just read. Make sure the questions require them to recall specific details from the text and demonstrate understanding. For example, "What is the name of the most popular game on Roblox?" or "How can players customize their avatars on Roblox?"

  7. Discussion and Reflection
  8. Engage in a discussion with the student about their thoughts and opinions on the passage. Ask open-ended questions such as "What did you find most interesting about Roblox?" or "Do you think you would enjoy playing Roblox based on what you read? Why or why not?" Encourage them to support their answers with evidence from the text.
