Objective
By the end of this lesson, the first-grade student will be able to engage in reading activities related to their interest in Mario.
Materials and Prep
- Mario-themed books or stories (can be physical books or digital resources)
- Paper and pencils
- Coloring materials
- Optional: Mario-themed stickers or stamps
Activities
Start by reading a Mario-themed book or story together. Encourage the student to actively listen and engage in discussions about the characters, setting, and events.
After reading, ask the student to draw their favorite scene from the story. They can use the coloring materials to make it more colorful and vibrant.
Next, have the student write a short sentence or two describing their drawing. Encourage them to use their imagination and creativity.
Once they have written their sentences, guide the student in reading them out loud. Help them practice reading fluently and with expression.
To further enhance their reading skills, provide the student with a few Mario-themed flashcards. Let them read the words on the flashcards and associate them with the corresponding images.
For a fun activity, give the student some Mario-themed stickers or stamps. Have them create their own Mario story by sticking or stamping the characters and objects onto a blank piece of paper. Encourage them to narrate the story as they go along.
