Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to apply arithmetic concepts in a fun and engaging way, using World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a context.
Materials and Prep
- Pen or pencil
- Blank paper or notebook
- Access to WWE website or WWE videos
Prior knowledge of basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) is helpful.
Activities
-
Create WWE Match Scores
Choose two WWE wrestlers and create a fictional match score. For example, John Cena vs. The Rock: John Cena wins with a score of 4-2. Write down the match score on your paper.
-
Calculate Winning Percentage
Calculate the winning percentage for each wrestler in the match. Divide the number of wins by the total number of matches played and multiply by 100. Using the previous example, John Cena's winning percentage would be (4 / 6) * 100 = 66.67%. Calculate the winning percentage for both wrestlers.
-
Create WWE Tag Team Match
Create a tag team match with two teams of two wrestlers each. Assign scores to each team based on their performance. For example, Team A scores 8 points and Team B scores 5 points. Write down the match score on your paper.
-
Compare Match Scores
Compare the match scores of the tag team match. Determine the difference between the scores of Team A and Team B. Write down the difference on your paper.
