Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify different dog breeds and understand their characteristics.
Materials and Prep
- Pen and paper
- Computer or tablet with internet access
- Optional: Books or magazines about dog breeds
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Start by brainstorming with the student about different dog breeds they already know. Write down their responses on a piece of paper.
-
Using a computer or tablet, search for images and information about dog breeds together. Encourage the student to find at least five different breeds they are interested in learning more about.
-
Once the student has chosen their favorite breeds, ask them to write a short paragraph about each breed. The paragraph should include information about the breed's appearance, size, temperament, and any unique characteristics.
-
After writing the paragraphs, have the student present their findings to you or other family members. Encourage them to use visual aids such as pictures or drawings to enhance their presentation.
-
Discuss the different breeds and their characteristics with the student. Ask them questions to deepen their understanding, such as why certain breeds are better suited for specific tasks or environments.
