Activities

1. Activity 1: Building Materials

   Discuss how in Fortnite, players collect different types of building materials (wood, brick, and metal) to construct structures. Assign a value to each material (e.g., wood = 2, brick = 3, metal = 4). Ask the student to create algebraic expressions to represent the total value of different combinations of building materials. For example, if a player has 5 wood, 3 brick, and 2 metal, the expression could be 5(2) + 3(3) + 2(4).

2. Activity 2: Battle Pass Tiers

   Explain that in Fortnite, players can unlock rewards by progressing through Battle Pass tiers. Each tier requires a certain number of Battle Stars to unlock. Ask the student to create equations to represent the relationship between the tier number and the number of Battle Stars required. For example, if tier 1 requires 10 Battle Stars, the equation could be y = 10x, where y is the number of Battle Stars and x is the tier number.

3. Activity 3: Loot Llama Loot

   Discuss how Loot Llamas in Fortnite contain various items, including weapons, resources, and healing items. Assign a value to each category (e.g., weapons = 5, resources = 3, healing items = 2). Ask the student to create algebraic expressions to represent the total value of loot obtained from opening multiple Loot Llamas. For example, if a player opens 2 Loot Llamas and obtains 3 weapons, 4 resources, and 1 healing item, the expression could be 2(5) + 4(3) + 1(2).
