Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create their own Alice in Wonderland parade card game using visual arts techniques and gain an appreciation for the artwork and characters in the story.

Materials and Prep

  • Blank index cards or cardstock
  • Colored pencils or markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Reference images of Alice in Wonderland characters
  • Optional: Alice in Wonderland book or movie for inspiration

Activities

  1. Introduce the concept of the Alice in Wonderland parade card game and explain the objective of creating their own version.
  2. Provide reference images of Alice in Wonderland characters and discuss their unique traits and personalities.
  3. Using the blank index cards or cardstock, have the student draw and color their own version of the characters on separate cards.
  4. Encourage creativity and personal interpretation of the characters.
  5. Once the characters are completed, have the student cut them out and arrange them in a parade formation on a separate surface.
  6. Using glue, have the student carefully attach each character to another index card or cardstock to create a sturdy parade card.
  7. Allow the parade cards to dry and then let the student showcase their creation by parading the cards around the room or creating a mini parade scene.
