Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to apply your knowledge of Earth Science to develop a card game.
Materials and Prep
- Deck of playing cards
- Blank index cards
- Markers or colored pencils
- Access to internet or books for research
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Research Earth Science topics that you find interesting. This could include subjects like volcanoes, earthquakes, weather patterns, or rock formations.
-
Choose at least four different Earth Science topics and create a list of facts or information about each one. Write each fact on a separate index card.
-
Assign a suit to each Earth Science topic. For example, hearts could represent volcanoes, diamonds could represent earthquakes, clubs could represent weather patterns, and spades could represent rock formations.
-
Create the rules for your card game. Decide how the cards will be played and what actions or consequences each suit or number will have.
-
Design the cards by drawing or coloring relevant illustrations on the blank index cards. Make sure to include the Earth Science topic and the corresponding suit on each card.
-
Playtest your card game with friends or family members. Make adjustments to the rules or cards as needed based on feedback and gameplay experience.
