Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the historical influences on sci-fi steampunk game development and apply that knowledge to create your own game concept.

Activities

  1. Research: Use the internet to research the history of the Industrial Revolution and the Victorian Era. Take notes on key events, inventions, and societal changes that occurred during these time periods.

  2. Brainstorm: Based on your research, brainstorm ideas for a sci-fi steampunk game concept. Think about the setting, characters, and gameplay mechanics. Write down your ideas and sketches.

  3. Game Design: Using your brainstormed ideas, create a game design document that outlines the main features of your game. Include a description of the world, characters, objectives, and any unique gameplay elements.

  4. Visualize: If you have art supplies, create visual representations of your game concept. Draw characters, scenes, or even a game board to bring your ideas to life.

  5. Presentation: Present your game concept to a family member or friend. Explain the historical influences on your game and why you find sci-fi steampunk game development interesting.
