Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and locate the continents using play-doh.
Materials and Prep
- Play-doh in different colors
- World map or globe image
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Create Play-doh Continents
- Identify and Place the Continents
- Sing and Dance
Guide the student to use play-doh to create the different continents. Show them a world map or globe image as reference. Encourage creativity and help them shape the play-doh into the approximate shapes of each continent.
Ask the student to identify each continent they created and place them on the table or floor. As they place each continent, ask them questions like "Can you show me where North America goes?" or "Which continent is the largest?" to reinforce their understanding.
Create a fun and interactive learning experience by singing a song about the continents and dancing along. You can find many educational songs about continents on platforms like YouTube. Encourage the student to move and dance as they learn the names of the continents.
