First Grade Talking Points

  • "Winter is a season when it gets very cold outside, and sometimes it snows. Artists like to create artworks that show the beauty of winter."
  • "When we look at winter-themed artworks, we can see different colors like white for snow, blue for the sky, and maybe brown or gray for trees or buildings."
  • "Artists use their imagination and skills to show what winter looks like in their artwork. They might draw people playing in the snow, animals in winter landscapes, or even just a quiet snowy scene."
  • "Today, we are going to create our own winter-themed artwork. You can draw or color your favorite things about winter, like snowflakes, snowmen, or a cozy fireplace."
  • "After you finish your artwork, I want you to tell me about it. Explain what you drew and why you chose those things. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers in art. It's all about expressing yourself!"
