Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the reaction between baking soda and vinegar and observe the changes that occur.

Materials and Prep

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • A small bowl or cup
  • A spoon for mixing
  • A tray or mat to contain any spills

Activities

  1. Take the small bowl or cup and place it on the tray or mat.
  2. Add a spoonful of baking soda into the bowl.
  3. Slowly pour some vinegar into the bowl, observing what happens.
  4. Observe and describe the changes that occur when the baking soda and vinegar mix.
  5. Repeat the experiment by adding more baking soda or vinegar and observe any differences.
