Materials and Prep
- Community helper books
- Construction paper
- Markers or crayons
- Scissors
- Glue
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have read a few community helper books and familiarized yourself with their roles and responsibilities.
Activities
- Create a community helper collage: Cut out pictures of different community helpers from magazines or draw them on construction paper. Talk about each helper as you glue them onto a larger piece of paper.
- Role-play community helpers: Choose a community helper and pretend to be that helper. Discuss what they do, what tools they use, and how they help the community.
- Community helper matching game: Create flashcards with pictures of community helpers on one side and their names on the other side. Shuffle the cards and help your child match the pictures with the correct names.
