Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the concept of community helpers and their roles in our society.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and crayons
- Printed pictures of various community helpers (e.g., police officer, firefighter, doctor, teacher)
- Optional: Props or costumes related to community helpers
Activities
Start by discussing what a community is. Explain that a community is a group of people who live and work together in the same area.
Show the printed pictures of community helpers one by one. Ask the student to identify each helper and briefly describe their role.
Encourage the student to choose their favorite community helper and draw a picture of them.
Role-play activity: Use props or costumes (if available) to act out different community helper roles. Let the student take turns pretending to be a police officer, firefighter, doctor, or teacher. Discuss what each helper does and how they contribute to the community.
