Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to analyze and comprehend a video game-related text, and express their understanding through discussion and writing.

Materials and Prep

  • A video game-related book or article
  • Pen or pencil
  • Plain paper or notebook

Prior knowledge of basic reading skills and familiarity with video games would be helpful.

Activities

  1. Introduce the video game-related text to the student. Read the title and discuss what they think the text might be about.
  2. Read the text together, taking turns or reading aloud. Encourage the student to ask questions and make predictions as they read.
  3. After reading, have a discussion about the text. Ask the student to summarize the main idea and key details. Prompt them to share their thoughts and opinions about the topic.
  4. Ask the student to write a short paragraph or a few sentences about their favorite part of the text, using proper sentence structure and punctuation.
  5. Encourage the student to draw a picture related to the text. They can illustrate a scene, a character, or anything that stood out to them.

  • "What happened in the story? Who were the main characters?"
  • "What was your favorite part of the text? Why did you like it?"
  • "Can you tell me something new you learned from the text?"
