Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore and understand various aspects of Earth Science through nature play.
Materials and Prep
- A safe outdoor area for nature play
- A magnifying glass
- A small container for collecting samples
- A notebook and pencil
Activities
- Go on a nature walk: Take a walk outside and observe the different elements of nature around you. Look for plants, trees, rocks, and insects. Use your magnifying glass to get a closer look at interesting things you find.
- Collect and examine samples: As you explore, collect small samples of leaves, flowers, rocks, or anything that catches your attention. Place them in your container and examine them closely. Take notes on their characteristics and any observations you make.
- Record your findings: Sit down with your notebook and pencil and draw or write about the things you observed during your nature walk. Describe the colors, shapes, and textures of the objects you collected. Write down any questions you have or things you want to learn more about.
- Create a nature collage: Use your collected samples, along with any additional materials you have at home (like construction paper, glue, and scissors), to create a nature collage. Arrange and glue your samples onto the paper, creating a beautiful representation of the natural world.
