Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to combine your interest in drawing with language arts by using your imagination to create a story and illustrate it.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencils or crayons
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Think of a character or an object that you would like to draw. It could be a person, an animal, or something imaginary.
Draw your chosen character or object on a piece of paper. Take your time and make it as detailed as you can.
-
Now, think about a story that your character or object could be a part of. What adventures could they have? Where would they go? What problems could they solve?
Write a short story about your character or object. Include details about their appearance, personality, and the setting of the story.
-
Once you have written your story, use your drawing to illustrate it. Add colors and any other details that will help bring your story to life.
-
Share your finished story and illustration with someone else. You can read it aloud or have them read it silently while looking at your drawing.
Ask for their feedback and see if they can guess what your character or object is based on your drawing.
