Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to enhance your reading skills while exploring the world of Mario.

Materials and Prep

  • A computer or gaming console with access to Mario games
  • Pen and paper
  • Printed copies of Mario-related reading materials (optional)

Activities

  1. Read a Mario-related story or article together. If you don't have any printed materials, you can search for short stories or articles online. Discuss the characters, setting, and plot of the story.

  2. Play a Mario game together. Pay attention to the text on the screen, such as character dialogues, item descriptions, and level descriptions. Encourage the student to read aloud or ask them questions about what they are reading.

  3. Write a short story or create a comic strip featuring Mario and his friends. The student can use their imagination to come up with an original adventure. Encourage the use of descriptive language and dialogue.

  4. Practice reading comprehension by asking the student questions about the story or game they read/played. Ask them to summarize the main events, identify the problem and solution, or predict what might happen next.

  • "Writing our own stories or comics allows us to be creative and use our imagination. What kind of adventure can we create for Mario and his friends?"
