Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify different animals and their habitats around the world.

Materials and Prep

  • World map or globe
  • Pictures or drawings of various animals
  • Index cards or small pieces of paper
  • Writing utensils

Activities

  1. Animal Habitat Matching:

    1. Show the pictures or drawings of different animals to your student.

    2. Ask them to guess where each animal might live based on its characteristics.

    3. Have the student write down their guesses on the index cards or small pieces of paper.

    4. Show the world map or globe and discuss different habitats around the world.

    5. Have the student match each animal to its correct habitat on the map.

  2. Animal Habitat Research:

    1. Choose one animal and ask your student to research its habitat.

    2. Encourage them to find out which part of the world the animal lives in and what its habitat looks like.

    3. Have the student draw a picture or write a short description of the animal's habitat.

    4. Discuss their findings and compare it to other habitats they have learned about.

  3. Animal Habitat Scavenger Hunt:

    1. Hide pictures or drawings of animals around the room or outdoor area.

    2. Provide clues or descriptions about each animal's habitat.

    3. Have your student search for the hidden animals and match them to their corresponding habitats.

    4. Encourage them to explain why they think each animal belongs to a particular habitat.

  • "Animals have special features that help them survive in their habitats. Can you think of any examples?"
