Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the historical context of different civilizations and apply that knowledge to the virtual world of Roblox.

Materials and Prep

  • A computer or tablet with internet access
  • A Roblox account
  • Paper and pencil for note-taking

Activities

  1. Research: Use the internet to research different historical civilizations, such as Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, or the Mayans. Take notes on their customs, architecture, clothing, and any other interesting facts.
  2. Roblox Connection: Log in to your Roblox account and explore the game library for historical-themed games. Choose one that interests you and join the game.
  3. Virtual Exploration: Once in the game, explore the virtual world and observe the environment, structures, and characters. Take note of any similarities or differences to the historical civilization you researched.
  4. Discussion: Reflect on your observations and discuss with a parent or guardian. Compare and contrast the virtual representation in Roblox with the real historical civilization. What elements were accurately portrayed? What elements were fictionalized or simplified?
  5. Creative Build: Using the knowledge gained from your research and Roblox experience, design and build your own virtual structure or environment inspired by the historical civilization. Use the building tools provided in the game and let your creativity shine.
