By the end of this lesson, the Kindergarten student will be able to create a fairy-themed nature collage using materials found in nature, while learning about different animals and their habitats.
Materials and Prep
- Construction paper
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Markers or crayons
- Various natural materials (leaves, twigs, flowers, etc.)
- Pictures or illustrations of animals and fairies
Before starting the lesson, gather the materials and familiarize yourself with different animals and their habitats.
Activities
- Introduction: Begin by discussing fairies, nature, animals, and climbing with the student. Ask them what they know about these topics and encourage them to share their thoughts and experiences.
- Nature Walk: Take the student on a nature walk around your home or nearby outdoor area. Encourage them to collect various natural materials such as leaves, twigs, flowers, and anything else they find interesting.
- Fairy Collage: Provide the student with construction paper, glue stick, and scissors. Instruct them to create a fairy-themed collage using the natural materials they collected. They can also use markers or crayons to add additional details to their collage.
- Animal Habitat Discussion: Show the student pictures or illustrations of different animals and discuss their habitats. Talk about where each animal lives and why that habitat is suitable for them.
- Animal Collage: Encourage the student to create a separate collage depicting different animal habitats using construction paper, glue stick, and pictures or illustrations of animals. They can cut out the animals and glue them onto the appropriate habitat backgrounds.
