Materials and Prep
Materials: - Paper - Pencils - Crayons or markers - Access to outdoor space (if available)
Preparation: - Familiarize yourself with different animals and their habitats.
Activities
1. Animal Habitat Drawing: Ask the student to choose an animal and draw its natural habitat. Discuss why the animal lives there and how it contributes to the environment.
2. Outdoor Scavenger Hunt: If possible, take the student on a nature walk to observe different animals and their behaviors. Encourage them to take notes and draw what they see.
3. Animal Role-play: Have the student pick an animal and act out its movements and sounds. Then discuss how that animal interacts with its environment.
Third Grade Talking Points
- Animals are important because they help plants grow and spread seeds. For example, bees help pollinate flowers by carrying pollen from one flower to another.
- Many animals live in different habitats such as forests, deserts, and oceans. Each animal has special features that help it survive in its habitat.
- Some animals are pets, and they need our help to stay healthy and safe. We can take care of our pets by giving them food, water, and love.
