Materials and Prep
Materials: Wii console with Wii Sports Resort game, Wii Remote
Prep: Make sure the Wii console and the game are set up and ready to play. Ensure the child is familiar with the Wii Remote controls.
Activities
1. Warm-up: Start by playing a few rounds of Wii speed slice with the child to familiarize them with the game.
2. Math Challenge: During the game, ask the child to count the number of fruits they slice and keep track of the total. For example, "How many watermelons did you slice in this round?"
3. Addition Fun: After a few rounds, encourage the child to add up the total number of fruits they sliced in each round. For example, "If you sliced 3 apples and 5 bananas, how many fruits did you slice in total?"
Preschool Grade Talking Points
- "Let's count the fruits together as we slice them. 1, 2, 3, and so on!"
- "Wow, you sliced 4 oranges! Great job! Can you say the number 4?"
- "Now, let's add up the apples and pears you sliced. How many fruits do we have in total?"
- "You sliced 2 pineapples and 3 strawberries. Can you show me 2 fingers for pineapples and 3 fingers for strawberries?"
