Activities
1. Animal Noun Hunt: Look around your home and find 5 different animal pictures or toys. Write down the names of the animals and whether they are singular or plural.
2. Verb Charades: Act out the actions of animals (e.g., hopping like a rabbit, swimming like a fish) and have your parent guess the action. Then write down the verbs that describe the actions.
Second Grade Talking Points
- "Nouns are words that name animals, like 'dog' or 'cat'."
- "Verbs are action words that tell us what animals do, like 'run' or 'jump'."
- "When we talk about more than one animal, we use plural nouns, like 'dogs' or 'cats'."
- "We use different verbs for different animal actions, like 'swim' for fish and 'fly' for birds."
