Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and identify the sounds of letters and blend them to form simple words.
Materials and Prep
Materials: Alphabet flashcards, picture cards of objects with corresponding initial letter sound, whiteboard or paper and markers.
Prep: Prepare the alphabet flashcards and picture cards before the lesson.
Activities
1. Letter Sound Matching: Show the student an alphabet flashcard and ask them to say the sound it makes. Then show them a picture card and have them identify the initial letter sound of the object.
2. Word Building: Use the alphabet flashcards to build simple words, such as "cat" or "dog". Have the student sound out each letter and then blend the sounds together to say the word.
3. Storytime: Read a simple story with repetitive words and sounds. Encourage the student to identify and repeat the words with the target letter sounds.
