Activities
1. Monster Truck Addition: Use the toy monster trucks to demonstrate addition by placing two trucks together and counting the total number of trucks.
2. Monster Truck Subtraction: Use the toy monster trucks to demonstrate subtraction by starting with a group of trucks and then "driving away" a certain number, counting how many are left.
3. Monster Truck Race: Create a simple race track on the floor using paper and crayons. Have the student roll the monster trucks and count how many spaces they move forward.
Kindergarten Grade Talking Points
- "Let's pretend our monster trucks are friends. When we put two trucks together, how many friends do we have in total?"
- "Now, let's imagine some trucks are going to a different place. How many trucks are left behind?"
- "Great job! Now, let's have a race. Count how many spaces your monster truck moves forward."
