Before starting the lesson, make sure you have access to books or online resources that provide information about different woodland animals.
Activities
- Choose a Woodland Animal
- Research and Gather Information
- Organize Your Thoughts
- Write Your Paragraph
- Illustrate Your Paragraph
Look through the books or online resources and choose a woodland animal that you find interesting. Think about what you already know about the animal and what you would like to learn more about.
Use the books or online resources to gather information about your chosen woodland animal. Take notes on interesting facts, habitat, diet, and any other details you find important.
Take a blank piece of paper and create a simple graphic organizer with three sections: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. In the Introduction section, write a sentence or two introducing your woodland animal. In the Body section, write down the main points or facts you want to include. In the Conclusion section, write a closing sentence.
Using the information from your graphic organizer, write a paragraph about your woodland animal. Begin with an interesting introduction, include the main points in the body, and end with a conclusion sentence. Remember to use your own words and make it as descriptive as possible.
After writing your paragraph, use the remaining space on your paper to draw a picture of your woodland animal. Be creative and show your understanding of its appearance and habitat.
