No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Warm-up: Verb Charades
Write down a list of verbs on separate slips of paper and put them in a hat or container. Take turns picking a slip and acting out the verb without speaking. The other person must guess the verb. Continue until all the verbs have been acted out.
-
Verb Identification
Write down ten sentences on your paper. Underline the verbs in each sentence. Once you have identified the verbs, categorize them into action verbs, linking verbs, or helping verbs.
-
Verb Tense Challenge
Write down five sentences using different verb tenses (e.g., past, present, future). Swap papers with a partner and identify the verb tense used in each sentence.
-
Verb Usage in Context
Write a short story or paragraph using at least ten different verbs. Be sure to use the correct verb form and tense according to the context. Share your writing with a family member or friend and ask for feedback on your verb usage.
