Activities

  1. Create a Community Helper Collage:

Using the magazines or newspapers, have the student cut out pictures of different community helpers such as doctors, firefighters, police officers, etc. Then, have them glue the pictures onto the construction paper to create a collage. They can also draw and color additional community helpers if desired.

  2. Draw and Color a Community Helper:

Ask the student to choose their favorite community helper and draw a picture of them on a piece of construction paper. They can then use markers or crayons to color and decorate their drawing.

  3. Create a Thank You Card:

Have the student make a thank you card for a community helper of their choice. They can use construction paper as the base and decorate it with drawings, stickers, or any other decorative materials. Encourage them to write a simple message expressing their gratitude.

  4. Watch a Video:

If you have access to a computer or tablet, you can search for child-friendly videos about community helpers. Watch a short video together and discuss the different roles and responsibilities of community helpers.
