Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create your own game using materials around your house.
Materials and Prep
- Blank paper
- Markers or crayons
- Scissors
- Tape or glue
- Various household items (e.g., buttons, bottle caps, small toys)
Before starting this lesson, make sure you have a clear workspace and gather all the materials listed above.
Activities
-
Create your own game board:
- Take a piece of blank paper and fold it in half.
- Unfold the paper and decorate the top side with markers or crayons. You can draw a path, shapes, or any design you like.
- On the bottom half of the paper, draw smaller shapes or write numbers in each section. These will be the spaces where players will move their game pieces.
- Color the spaces or numbers to make them stand out.
-
Create your own game pieces:
- Use scissors to cut out small shapes or circles from the blank paper.
- Decorate each shape or circle with markers or crayons.
- If you have small toys or buttons, you can also use them as game pieces.
-
Play your game:
- Gather a friend or family member to play with you.
- Decide on the rules of your game. For example, you can roll a dice or use a spinner to determine how many spaces to move.
- Take turns moving your game pieces along the path you created on the game board.
- The first player to reach the end of the path wins!
