Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencils or crayons
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Activity 1: Draw a Picture
- Activity 2: Describe Your Drawing
- Activity 3: Create a Story
Start by drawing a picture of anything you like. It could be a person, an animal, or even a made-up creature. Take your time and make it as detailed as you want.
Look at your drawing and think about what is happening in it. Are there any characters? What are they doing? Where are they? Write a few sentences describing your drawing. You can use words to explain the colors, shapes, and actions in your picture.
Now that you have described your drawing, let's turn it into a story! Use your imagination to come up with a beginning, middle, and end for your story. Think about what might happen next and how your characters will solve any problems they encounter.
Talking Points
- When we draw a picture, we can use our imagination to create anything we want.
- Describing our drawing helps us think about the details and tell others what we see.
- A story has a beginning, middle, and end. It has characters, a setting, and events that happen.
- Think about what your characters might say or do in different situations.
- Use descriptive words to make your story more interesting.
- Remember to have fun and let your creativity flow!
