Activities

  • Activity 1: Blokes Addition Challenge
In this activity, the student will play Blokes and focus on the addition aspect of the game. They will aim to complete as many levels as possible by correctly solving addition problems within the game. The student can keep track of their progress by recording the level number and the corresponding addition problem they solved correctly.
  • Activity 2: Blokes Subtraction Challenge
Similar to Activity 1, the student will now focus on subtraction while playing Blokes. They will aim to complete levels by correctly solving subtraction problems within the game. The student can record their progress by noting the level number and the corresponding subtraction problem they solved correctly.
  • Activity 3: Blokes Mixed Operations Challenge
In this activity, the student will tackle a mix of addition and subtraction problems while playing Blokes. They will aim to complete levels by correctly solving the given arithmetic problems within the game. The student can keep track of their progress by recording the level number and the corresponding arithmetic problem they solved correctly.

Talking Points

  • Math is all around us, even in games like Blokes! By playing this game, we can practice our arithmetic skills and have fun at the same time.
  • Let's start with addition. Addition is combining two or more numbers together to find their total. For example, if we have 2 apples and 3 oranges, how many fruits do we have in total?
  • Now, let's move on to subtraction. Subtraction is taking away one number from another to find the difference. For instance, if we have 7 cookies and we eat 3 of them, how many cookies will be left?
  • Great! Now, let's challenge ourselves with mixed operations. Mixed operations involve both addition and subtraction in the same problem. We need to carefully read the problem and decide whether we need to add or subtract to find the answer.
  • Remember, it's important to read the problem carefully and think about what operation we need to use before solving it.
  • Don't worry if you make mistakes at first, practice makes perfect! Keep playing Blokes and soon you'll become a master at arithmetic.
