Objective

Before starting this lesson, it is important to have a basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Activities

• Activity 1: Introduction to Blokus - Familiarize yourself with the game Blokus. Learn the rules and how to play.
• Activity 2: Addition Challenge - Use the Blokus game pieces to create addition problems. For example, place a piece with 3 squares and another piece with 4 squares together to make an addition problem of 3 + 4. Solve the problem and write down the answer.
• Activity 3: Subtraction Challenge - Similar to the addition challenge, use the Blokus game pieces to create subtraction problems. Place two pieces together and subtract the smaller piece from the larger piece. Write down the equation and the answer.
• Activity 4: Multiplication Challenge - Use the Blokus game pieces to create multiplication problems. For example, place a 2 square piece next to a 3 square piece to make a multiplication problem of 2 x 3. Solve the problem and write down the answer.
• Activity 5: Division Challenge - Similar to the multiplication challenge, use the Blokus game pieces to create division problems. Place two pieces together and divide the larger piece into equal parts. Write down the equation and the answer.
