Objective

The objective of this lesson is to introduce the concept of creating and sharing videos on YouTube in a fun and age-appropriate way.

Materials and Prep

  • A computer or tablet with internet access
  • A YouTube account (if the student doesn't have one, create a new one together)
  • Basic understanding of using a computer or tablet

Activities

  • Create a YouTube channel: Help the student create their own YouTube channel with a fun name and profile picture.
  • Watch favorite videos: Let the student choose a few of their favorite YouTube videos to watch together. Encourage them to share why they like those videos.
  • Make a video: Using a smartphone or tablet, help the student record a short video of something they enjoy, such as playing with toys or telling a story. Keep it simple and fun!
  • Edit the video: Use simple video editing software or apps to trim the video, add fun effects or music, and make it more engaging.
  • Upload and share: Guide the student through the process of uploading their video to their YouTube channel. Show them how to add a description and tags to make it easier for others to find.
  • Watch and comment: Spend some time watching the uploaded video together and encourage the student to leave a positive comment or response to their own video.
