Activities
-
Animal Match-Up: Show the student pictures of different animals and ask them to identify each animal. Then, provide them with animal toys or pictures and ask them to match the toys/pictures to the corresponding animals. Encourage them to name each animal as they match them up.
-
Animal Sounds: Introduce the student to different animal sounds. Play audio clips or imitate the sounds yourself. Ask the student to identify the animal associated with each sound. For example, you can say, "What animal makes this sound? Moo!"
-
Animal Story Time: Read an animal-themed storybook to the student. Pause at certain points and ask them questions about the story. For example, "What do you think the lion will do next?" Encourage them to predict and use their imagination.
-
Animal Writing: Provide the student with animal flashcards or pictures. Ask them to choose their favorite animal and draw a picture of it. Then, help them write the name of the animal below the picture. Encourage them to sound out the letters and write them as best as they can.
