Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create animal-themed artwork using different materials and techniques.
Materials and Prep
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or crayons
- Animal pictures or books about animals
- Old magazines or newspapers
Before starting the lesson, familiarize yourself with different animals and their characteristics. Gather animal pictures or books to use as references during the activities.
Activities
-
Create a Collage:
Using the old magazines or newspapers, cut out pictures of animals that you find interesting. Glue them onto a piece of construction paper to create a collage. You can arrange the animals in any way you like and add additional elements, such as trees or grass, to make it more vibrant.
-
Draw and Color Your Favorite Animal:
Choose your favorite animal and use markers or crayons to draw a picture of it on a separate piece of construction paper. Pay attention to the details and colors of the animal. Once you finish drawing, color it in using the appropriate colors.
-
Create a Paper Animal Puppet:
Find a picture of an animal that can be easily turned into a puppet, such as a lion or a rabbit. Cut out the animal's body shape from construction paper and draw its facial features. Attach a popsicle stick or a straw to the back of the animal to create a handle. Now, you have your very own animal puppet!
