Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and name various animals in Spanish.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and pencil
- Printed pictures of animals
- Spanish-English animal flashcards (optional)
Activities
- Introduction: Begin by showing the student pictures of different animals and ask them to name them in English. Write down their answers.
- Vocabulary Building: Introduce the Spanish names for the animals. Show the printed pictures and ask the student to repeat the Spanish names after you. Use flashcards if available.
- Matching Game: Mix up the printed pictures of animals and ask the student to match the Spanish name with the corresponding picture. Encourage them to say the Spanish name out loud as they make the matches.
- Sentence Construction: Write a simple sentence on the board, such as "El perro es marrón" (The dog is brown). Ask the student to identify the animal in the sentence and repeat it in Spanish. Practice with a few more sentences.
- Role Play: Pretend to be different animals and have the student guess the animal by saying its name in Spanish. Encourage them to use full sentences like "Eres un gato" (You are a cat).
