Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore water play with pom poms, focusing on squeezing and manipulating them.
Materials and Prep
- Pom poms (various sizes and colors)
- A container or basin filled with water
- A towel or mat to work on
- A small strainer or colander (optional)
No specific knowledge is needed before starting this lesson. Just come with a curious and playful mindset!
Activities
-
Water Pom Pom Toss
Fill the container with water and scatter the pom poms on the towel or mat. Stand a few feet away from the container and take turns tossing the pom poms into the water. See how many you can get in!
-
Pom Pom Squeeze Relay
Divide into teams (if there are multiple students). Each team member takes turns picking up a pom pom from the container, squeezing it tightly, and passing it to the next team member. The team that finishes passing all the pom poms first wins!
-
Pom Pom Water Transfer
Fill two containers with water, one halfway and the other almost full. Use a small strainer or colander (if available) to transfer the pom poms from one container to the other. How many can you transfer without dropping them?
