Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to read and understand a story about dance.
Materials and Prep
- A picture book about dance
- Writing materials (pencils, crayons, markers)
- A quiet and comfortable learning environment
Activities
Read the picture book about dance together with the student. Encourage them to point out any dance-related words they recognize.
Ask the student to draw a picture of their favorite dance move or pose. Have them label it with the name of the move if they are able to.
Write down a few simple dance-related words on separate pieces of paper. Scatter the papers around the room and ask the student to find them. Once they find a word, have them read it out loud.
Play a game of "Simon Says" with dance-related actions. Give simple instructions like "Simon says twirl around" or "Simon says jump up and down". This will reinforce understanding of dance-related vocabulary.
