Objective
By the end of this lesson, the 2 year old student will have a basic understanding and appreciation for the history of fire.
Materials and Prep
- A safe and controlled environment
- Fire-themed toys or pictures
- Fire-themed books
- Optional: Fire-themed coloring pages or craft materials
Activities
- Play with fire-themed toys: Encourage the student to explore and play with fire-themed toys, such as fire trucks, firefighters, and fire stations. Discuss the different elements they see and explain their purposes.
- Read fire-themed books: Choose age-appropriate books about fire, firefighters, and fire safety. Read the books together, pointing out the pictures and discussing the concepts mentioned in the stories.
- Fire safety demonstration: Teach the student about fire safety by demonstrating how to stop, drop, and roll. Show them how to cover their face with their hands and roll on the ground. Repeat the action together and explain that it helps to put out fire on their clothes if they ever catch fire.
- Create fire-themed artwork: If desired, provide coloring pages or craft materials related to fire. Encourage the student to color or create their own fire-themed artwork using their imagination.
