Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to organize animals into patterns based on their numbers.
Materials and Prep
- Noah's Ark toy or picture
- Animal figures or pictures
- Number cards (1-10)
- Pen and paper for recording patterns
Activities
- Activity 1: Sort the Animals
- Activity 2: Create Number Patterns
- Activity 3: Record the Patterns
Give the student the Noah's Ark toy or picture and a set of animal figures or pictures. Instruct the student to sort the animals based on their numbers. For example, put all the animals with number 1 together, all the animals with number 2 together, and so on.
Using the number cards, ask the student to create number patterns with the animals. For example, start with one animal, then add two animals, then add three animals, and so on. Encourage the student to be creative and come up with different patterns.
Provide the student with a pen and paper. Ask them to draw or write down the patterns they have created using the animals and number cards. This will help reinforce the concept of organizing the animals based on their numbers.
Talking Points
- Animals come in different numbers, just like numbers come in different sizes.
- We can organize the animals based on their numbers to create patterns.
- Let's sort the animals and put all the animals with the same numbers together.
- We can also create patterns by adding more animals each time. For example, we can start with one animal, then add two animals, then add three animals, and so on.
- Patterns help us see how things are organized and can be a lot of fun to create!
