Activities
1. Alphabet Hunt: Hide the alphabet flashcards around the room and have the child find them. When they find a card, ask them to say the sound it makes.
2. Sound Train: Lay out a few flashcards in a row. Ask the child to say the sound of each card and then blend them together to form a word.
3. Sound Scavenger Hunt: Give the child a word (e.g. "cat") and ask them to find the flashcards that represent each sound in the word.
Talking Points
- "Letters are like puzzle pieces that make sounds. When we put the sounds together, we can make words!"
- "Let's try to say the sounds of each letter slowly and then put them together like a train to make a word."
- "Can you find the cards that make the sounds in the word 'dog'? D-O-G."
- "Great job! You blended the sounds together to make the word 'dog'. Now let's try another word."
