Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify letters and their sounds while having fun with toys that match or sound like the chosen letter.
Materials and Prep
- Various toys
- Carpet or large space for activities
No prior knowledge needed, just bring your enthusiasm!
Activities
- Pick a letter on the carpet and find a toy that matches or sounds like that letter. For example, if you choose the letter "B", you can find a toy bear or ball.
- Sort the toys by their beginning letter sounds. You can create groups of toys that start with the same letter.
- Make a fun game out of it! Hide the toys around the room and ask your child to find the toy that matches the letter sound you say.
Talking Points
- “Let's pick a letter together! Which letter do you want to find a toy for today?”
- “Look at this toy, it starts with the letter 'D'. Can you find another toy that starts with the same sound?”
- “Wow, you found the toy that matches the letter 'M' sound! Great job!”
- “Let's play a game! I will say a letter sound, and you find the toy that matches that sound. Ready, set, go!”
