Objective
By the end of this lesson, Jyemeka will be able to use music therapy to improve spatial awareness, proprioception, emotional regulation, and communication skills.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed:
- Music player or instrument
- Open space for movement
- Paper and coloring materials
Prior knowledge: Basic understanding of music and willingness to engage in activities.
Activities
1. Dance and Freeze: Play music and have Jyemeka dance around the room. When the music stops, she must freeze in a specific pose to encourage spatial awareness.
2. Musical Storytelling: Create a story together and choose music to represent different emotions in the story. This will help with emotional regulation.
3. Instrument Play: Allow Jyemeka to experiment with different instruments to understand proprioception and different sounds.
4. Drawing Music: While listening to music, have Jyemeka draw what she feels. This can improve communication skills.
