Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to practice counting and number recognition skills through a fun game of Roll and Cover the Watermelon.

Materials and Prep

Materials needed:
- Dice
- Paper
- Crayons or markers
- Watermelon template (drawn on paper)
- Optional: Stickers or small objects to cover the dots

No prior knowledge required. Just come ready to have fun!

Activities

1. Roll the dice and count the dots. Then color or cover that number of dots on the watermelon template.

2. Take turns with a partner to roll the dice and cover the dots. Encourage each other and celebrate each success!

3. Create your own watermelon templates and play the game with different numbers of dots for added challenge.

Talking Points

  • Let's roll the dice and see how many dots we get! Can you count them for me?
  • Now, let's find the same number of dots on our watermelon and color them in. Great job!
  • When we cover the dots, we are practicing our counting and recognizing numbers. Isn't that fun?
  • Remember, the number of dots on the dice tells us how many dots to cover on the watermelon. Let's keep playing!
